Here Is The Sun

On such such a lovely day I had to get downtown with the camera. Even though I did spend some time at

enjoying

I was able to get out in the sun, enjoy the sights, watch people, walk about, sit on some stairs, oh, and take a few photos.

I took this with the 24-70 2.8 at 35mm 1/100th sec f11 iso 400. If you aren't familiar with Vancouver this was taken right here.

Waiting For The Sun

As I sit here on yet another rainy wet day I wonder when this is ever going to end. Not to complain of course, well yes I guess it is. Tracie and I have been going out walking around the West End of Vancouver quite a lot the past while and getting wet doing it. We took advantage of a rare wonderful blustery end of winter day recently. It was a cold wind but when it paused you just had to stop and soak in the suns warmth. The clouds were windblown and photogenic that day.

This was taken with the 24-70 at 24mm 1/8000 sec f5.6 iso 800. I took the photo here.

Look Into The Light

Over the past few years I have done some experimenting with High Dynamic Range photography and have posted about it before. When I first learned of this I thought of forest parks where the ground can be dim and the sky quite bright. I have had varying degrees of success with this and still try it on occasion. People who see it tend to love or hate it. I am the same in sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it. I have had success where the photo looks so natural I would be hard put to tell it was HDR and other times it looked very HDR and awful.  Yet other times it looked very HDR but I like it.

 In this photo I used the 24-85 at 24mm. 3 epxosures 1/640th, 1,400th, and 1/250th sec iso 200

Regal Light

Spring seems to be on its way. Tracie and I went for a walk about downtown yesterday and it was about perfect although still a little cool. I like photographing people and I think this was a great way to do a photo shoot. Walking down the street? Take some photos. Sitting in a coffee shop? Take some photos. Pausing at a street corner? Take some photos. About 8 hours of walking, talking, and taking a few photos of Tracie whenever it struck our fancy. Oh I did take photos of other things. I think. I should go through them again.
We were making our way down these stairs slowly doing a little photo shoot when I asked Tracie to strike a regal pose.

I shot this with the 24-70 at 50mm 1/60th sec f2.8, iso 50. The photo was taken right about here
